Assessment Fee: $15

Please review the eligibility requirements below before signing up for the readiness assessment.

Eligibility

Dancers must be at least 10 years old at the time of assessment, currently enrolled in Ballet Level 2A or above, and preferably training a minimum of 2-3 hours per week in ballet.

ASSESSMENT Criteria

Dancers will be assessed for their readiness to begin pointe work based on the following:

  • Current stage of development: Growth rates vary among dancers and do not reflect effort or skill. This is the primary factor in determining pointe readiness.

  • Ankle, foot, and knee flexibility: A certain level of mobility is necessary to safely rise onto pointe.

  • Muscular endurance and balance: Stability on one and both feet is crucial for pointe work.

Important Note

Pointe work requires a specific anatomical structure to avoid long-term injury and physical strain. Some dancers may not be suited for pointe training due to limitations in foot, ankle, or knee structure. Our priority is safety—waiting for the right time is always better than rushing into pointe work and risking injury.

25/26 Season Requirements

Dancers approved for pointe must be enrolled in and maintain regular attendance in two additional ballet technique classes per week to remain eligible for pointe classes.
